How to resize a photo and signature

Enter your portal’s width, height, DPI and file size limits, then apply settings. Upload each image, drag or zoom to crop, and download the JPEGs separately or together as a ZIP. The starting preset is for the linked NSDL PAN process; it is not a universal government form size.

Which forms can you use it for?

Why form photos get rejected

One common reason is a size mismatch. A portal may require an exact physical size and pixel shape, while a phone photo is much larger and has a different aspect ratio.

Another reason is missing or incorrect DPI information. A JPEG can look correct but still fail when its metadata does not contain the DPI value the portal expects.

File size limits also cause rejections. A photo that is only slightly over the allowed KB can be rejected, even when its dimensions and DPI are correct.

Government photo resizer: what it should do

A general image compression site may shrink a file, but it often does not write the required DPI metadata, target an exact KB ceiling, or prepare a photo and signature together. This tool crops to the target shape, writes the required JPEG density information, compresses to the stated limits, and lets you download both files as one ZIP.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size should a government form photo be?

It depends on the form. The default photograph used here is 3.5×2.5 cm at 200 DPI, or 197×276 px (W × H). Always check the instructions for the exact form you are submitting.

Why does the portal reject a photo that looks fine?

The portal may be checking pixel dimensions, JPEG DPI metadata, the aspect ratio, or the file size. An image can look correct on screen while failing one of those technical requirements.

Does this tool upload my photo anywhere?

No. Cropping, resizing, DPI writing, compression, and ZIP creation all happen in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files are not uploaded to a server.

Can I resize both photo and signature at the same time?

Yes. Upload the photograph and signature, adjust each crop, and then download them together as one ZIP or download either JPEG separately.

Is this free?

Yes. The tool is free to use and does not require an account, subscription, or payment.
