TNPSC photo and signature size: which requirements apply?
| Application flow | Photo | Signature |
|---|---|---|
| OTR — official FAQ, question 14 | 20–50 KB, JPEG, 200 DPI | 10–20 KB, JPEG, 200 DPI |
| Departmental exam — 2021 instructions | 30–40 KB; document lists 165 × 125 pixels | 20–30 KB; document lists 80 × 125 pixels |
The OTR FAQ does not specify pixel width and height. Enter the dimensions on your upload screen; this tool does not assume that the departmental exam dimensions apply to OTR.
The departmental preset uses a portrait photo (125 W × 165 H) and landscape signature (125 W × 80 H). The source lists dimensions without W/H labels. Compare the orientation with your portal before using this preset; you can edit either dimension. The departmental source does not specify DPI; 200 DPI is an editable tool default for that preset.

How to compress a TNPSC photo or signature
- Select OTR or the departmental exam preset.
- For OTR, enter the pixel dimensions displayed by your upload portal. Apply settings separately for the photo and signature.
- Upload a clear source image and adjust the crop without cutting off your face or signature.
- Download each JPEG. Check the reported pixels and file size, OTR files are automatically named Photograph.jpg and Signature.jpg as requested in the official FAQ.
- Upload the JPEGs to the application portal. The ZIP is only for storing both files together.
Frequently asked questions
What is the TNPSC photo size in KB?
The official OTR FAQ specifies 20–50 KB. The linked departmental instructions specify 30–40 KB. Choose the requirements for your application flow.
What is the TNPSC signature size?
OTR specifies 10–20 KB at 200 DPI. The linked departmental instructions specify 20–30 KB and list 80 × 125 pixels. These are separate requirements.
Can I use this for TNPSC Group 4?
Use OTR requirements for the registration step. For the Group 4 application itself, read its current notification for photo date, name/date printing, dimensions and other requirements. This tool crops and compresses; it does not add a name/date strip or verify eligibility.
Why is my TNPSC photo rejected even when its KB size is correct?
Check the application flow, pixel dimensions, JPEG format, required photo age, background and any name/date requirement. Changing DPI metadata cannot restore detail in a blurry source image.
Is this TNPSC photo compressor free and private?
Yes. Image processing and downloads happen on your device. No account or payment is required. This is an independent tool, not a TNPSC service.
